October 7, 2024 Grant Ceremony Held in Tsuyama City for the Smart City Promotion Project to Solve Regional Issues (hereinafter referred to as the "Smart City Promotion Project")
Data-driven Smart City Promotion Project for Health and Happiness (hereinafter referred to as the "Health and Happiness Project") has been selected as a Smart City Promotion Project for 2024, implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC). The decision to fund the Health and Happiness Project was made on July 31, 2024, and a grant ceremony was held on September 26, 2024.
1. Overview
The MIC aims to address various regional issues, such as disaster prevention, crime prevention, healthcare, childcare, and tourism, by leveraging digital technology and data to revitalize communities. To this end, the MIC supports local governments in developing and enhancing City OSs, as well as services for connecting to them, by providing subsidies to partially cover their expenses through the Smart City Promotion Projects. These subsidies are also known as funds for utilizing information and telecommunications technology.
The decision to grant subsidies to Tsuyama City was made in accordance with the provisions of Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the Act on Regulation of Execution of Budget Pertaining to Subsidies, etc. In response, the grant ceremony took place on September 26, 2024. In accordance with the provisions of Article 8 of the Act, SHIMONAKA Hirotaka, Deputy Director-General to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, in charge of the Information and Communications Bureau, handed a notice of decision to TANIGUCHI Keizo, the Mayor of Tsuyama City.

Subject: Health and Happiness Project
Overview: This project connects the health management app, scheduled for development in FY 2024, with the City OS. More specifically, it links the new health management app to the existing diet management app, already connected to the City OS. By combining diet and exercise data, the project aims to improve residents' health awareness and encourage them to improve their own lifestyles.
