November 12, 2024 - Technical Requirements for 433 MHz Band Tire Pressure Monitor and Remote Keyless Entry (hereinafter referred to as the “433 MHz Technical Requirements”), which are part of Technical Requirements for Upgrading Low-power Wireless Communications Systems (hereinafter referred to as the “Upgrade Technical Requirements”) - - Partial Report from the Information and Communications Council -

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) today received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council, chaired by ENDO Nobuhiro, Special Advisor to NEC Corporation, on the 433 MHz Technical Requirements, which are part of the Upgrade Technical Requirements (Consultation No. 2009, dated September 30, 2002).

1. Background

In Japan, tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) and remote keyless entry (RKE) have been introduced as radio stations (specified low-power radio stations) that use the 315 MHz band, which does not require a license. Internationally, the 433 MHz band is widely used for TPMS and RKE, making it a global standard frequency for them. In light of this situation, the Information and Communications Council has been examining technical requirements from the perspective of international frequency coordination. Today, the MIC received a partial report from the Council on technical requirements for tire pressure monitors and remote keyless entry using the 433 MHz band.

2. Future plans

Based on this partial report, the MIC plans to amend the relevant regulations.
