November 20, 2024 Results of Public Solicitation on the Draft Directive for Partial Revision to Examination Standards Related to the Telecommunications Business Act
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) issued a draft directive for the partial revision of the examination standards related to the Telecommunications Business Act specifically regarding the sufficient maintenance of systems for the designation of category II eligible telecommunications carriers and made a public solicitation from Saturday, October 12 to Monday, November 11, 2024.
In response, four opinions were submitted. MIC has published the submitted opinions along with MIC’s responses to them.
MIC also published the directive for the partial revision of the examination standards related to the Telecommunications Business Act based on the results of the public solicitation.
1. Results of public solicitation
As applications for category II eligible telecommunications carriers are set to begin under Article 110-3 of the Telecommunications Business Act (Act No. 86 of 1984), MIC issued a draft directive for the partial revision of the examination standards related to the Telecommunications Business Act (MIC directive No. 75 of 2001) to address necessary arrangements for the designation of category II eligible telecommunications carriers under the universal service system in broadband services and solicited opinions from Saturday, October 12 to Monday, November 11, 2024.
As a result, four opinions were submitted and MIC published the submitted opinions along with MIC’s responses to them.
2. Enactment of a directive
Following the public solicitation, MIC enacted a directive for the partial revision of the examination standards related to the Telecommunications Business Act.
