Results of Opinion Solicitation on Partial Revision to the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act and Reports from the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council
- Developing regulations based on discussions in the “Working Group on the Verification of Competition Rules” -
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has received reports from the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council (chaired by AIDA Hitoshi, Specially Appointed Professor at The University of Tokyo) on the "Partial Revision to the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act" (Inquiry No. 3187 on October 2, 2024), based on the results of public solicitation conducted by the council from Saturday, October 5 to Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
MIC intends to promptly revise the ministerial ordinance based on these reports and other relevant information.
1. Overview
This article describes the partial revision to the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act (Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Order No. 25 of 1985) to review special provisions for dead stock devices and the upper limit on discounts for millimeter wave compatible devices in light of the "Report on the Verification of Competition Rules 2024" (published on Thursday, September 12, 2024).
2. Future plans
MIC plans to promptly revise the ministerial ordinance based on the results of public solicitation and reports from the Council, and other relevant factors.
