Publication of the Annual Report on Spectrum User Fees in FY2023
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has published the annual report on the administration and expenditure of spectrum user fees for FY2023.
Spectrum user fees are collected by MIC from radio station licensees to cover the costs required for administrative services that benefit radio stations such as Illegal radio station monitoring (part of common services).
The administrative services for spectrum users' common benefit are stipulated in Article 103-2, paragraph 4 of the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950). The role of these administrative services is expected to grow in importance as the radio wave spectrum becomes increasingly scarce due to the extensive utilization of radio waves.
It is therefore essential for the proper administration of spectrum user fees to ensure that radio station licensees understand the administration and expenditure of the fees.
For this reason, MIC has released the annual report on spectrum user fees for FY2023 under Article 103-3, paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Radio Act, and the remaining amount of the fund prescribed in Article 103-2, paragraph 4, item (iii) of the same Act.
