November 27, 2024 Results of the Solicitation for Opinions on the Draft Ministerial Ordinance Partially Amending the Essential Standards for Establishing Radio Stations, Excluding Basic Broadcast Stations, and Other Related Regulations, and the Report from the Radio Regulatory Council
- Institutional Enhancements for Introducing 2 GHz Band Non-Geostationary Satellite Communications Systems for Mobile Phones Using a Satellite Constellation (hereinafter referred to as the "Satellite Communications Systems") -
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has published the results of opinion solicitation on the draft ministerial ordinance partially amending the Essential Standards for Establishing Radio Stations, excluding Basic Broadcast Stations (Radio Regulatory Commission Regulations No. 12 of 1950) (hereinafter referred to as the "Draft Ministerial Ordinance").
Based on the results of the opinion solicitation, the MIC consulted the Radio Regulatory Council, chaired by SASASE Iwao, Professor Emeritus of Keio University, regarding matters under the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950) included in the Draft Ministerial Ordinance. Today, the MIC received a report stating that these matters are appropriate.
1. Results of opinion solicitation
To make institutional enhancements for introducing the Satellite Communications Systems, the MIC prepared the Draft Ministerial Ordinance based on a partial report on the Satellite Communications Systems from the Information and Communications Council. The MIC solicited opinions from Saturday, October 12, 2024, to Monday, November 11, 2024.
2. Report from the Radio Regulatory Council
Based on the results of the opinion solicitation, the MIC consulted the Radio Regulatory Council, chaired by SASASE Iwao, Professor Emeritus of Keio University, regarding matters under the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950) included in the Draft Ministerial Ordinance. The MIC received a report stating that these matters are appropriate.
3. Upcoming schedule
Based on the results of the opinion solicitation and the report on the matters from the Radio Regulatory Council, the MIC will promptly amend related regulations.
