December 17, 2024 Partial Report from the Information and Communications Council on Technical Requirements of Telecommunications Facilities Corresponding to the Switchover of Networks to IP (hereinafter referred to as the "IP Technical Requirements")
- Technical Requirements for Telecommunications Facilities for Intercarrier Roaming in Emergencies (hereinafter referred to as the "Intercarrier Roaming Technical Requirements)," part of the IP Technical Requirements -

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) today received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council, chaired by ENDO Nobuhiro, special advisor to NEC Corporation, regarding the Intercarrier Roaming Technical Requirements, which are part of the IP Technical Requirements (Consultation No. 2020, dated October 31, 2005).

1. Background

 Since November 2005, the IP Network Facilities Subcommittee, chaired by AIDA Hitoshi, a senior professor at the University of Tokyo, has been studying the IP Technical Requirements under the Department on Information and Communications Technology of the Information and Communications Council. These requirements are part of Consultation No. 2020, which was submitted to the Information and Communications Council on October 31, 2005.
 The IP Network Facilities Subcommittee reviewed the Intercarrier Roaming Technical Requirements from August to December 2024 and compiled a report. Subsequently, this matter was deliberated by the Department on Information and Communications Technology, chaired by OIE Yuji, professor emeritus of the Kyushu Institute of Technology, which led to the partial report from the Information and Communications Council.

2. Future plans

 Based on this partial report, the MIC intends to promptly revise the relevant systems.
