February 22, 2024 Release of Infographic Content Co-Produced with LY Corporation

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), in collaboration with LY Corporation, has co-produced infographic content to improve literacy as part of the efforts for promotion and awareness on the internet news distribution service “Yahoo! News,” operated by LY Corporation.

With the widespread use of the Internet and smartphones across all generations, the everyday penetration of social media, and the realization of one digital device per person under the GIGA School Program, the use of ICT has become commonplace. On the other hand, problems such as slander and the circulation of disinformation and misinformation on the Internet have become more apparent, requiring everyone to acquire the ability (literacy) to use the Internet correctly.

In light of this situation, MIC has co-produced infographic content with LY Corporation for literacy improvement as part of the awareness and promotion efforts on the internet news distribution service, “Yahoo! News”. This content illustrates, with the use of illustrations, the mindset before spreading information on the net and points for fact-checking.

MIC will utilize this content in lecture materials and educational materials for awareness and promotion, as well as in services on the portal site “Yahoo! JAPAN,” operated by LY Corporation and “Yahoo! News.”

Furthermore, in 2024, in conjunction with Safer Internet Day, MIC, in cooperation with businesses and organizations undertaking ICT literacy initiatives, has launched a webpage, “Better Use of the Net & SNS to Create the Future―ICT Utilization Literacy Improvement Project.”

This webpage organizes and introduces content provided by various businesses and organizations, including LY Corporation, targeted at a wide range of generations by important keywords for ICT utilization, making it easy for users to understand and learn.

Additionally, the webpage features short videos that allow learning about facing various challenges, such as false information and infringement of portrait rights, explanations of keywords important for the utilization of ICT, and content to check response capabilities for troubles encountered when using the net and SNS.
