Results of Public Solicitation on Draft Ministerial Ordinance for Amendment of Part of Radio Equipment Regulations, etc. and Report from the Radio Regulatory Council
(System Development pertaining to Advanced Terrestrial Digital Television Broadcasting System)
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made a public solicitation for opinions from Thursday, January 25 to Wednesday, February 28, 2024 on a draft “Ministerial Decree partially amending the “Radio Equipment Regulations” and the “Standard System of Transmission for Digital Broadcasting within Broadcasting including Standard Definition Television”” and draft enactment and amendment of related notices to develop related regulations concerning the technical requirements of new broadcasting systems and received five opinions.
Based on the results of this public solicitation, MIC consulted the Radio Regulatory Council (chaired by SASASE Iwao, Professor Emeritus of Keio University) regarding a draft “Ministerial Ordinance for Amendment of Part of the Radio Equipment Regulations, etc.” including the abovementioned draft Ministerial Ordinance for which public solicitation was conducted, and received a report stating that the draft is appropriate.
1. Results of public solicitation
MIC prepared a draft “Ministerial Decree partially amending the “Radio Equipment Regulations” and the “Standard System of Transmission for Digital Broadcasting within Broadcasting including Standard Definition Television”” with a draft enactment and amendment of related notices and publicly solicited opinions from Thursday, January 25 to Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
2. Report from the Radio Regulatory Council
Based on the results of the public solicitation, MIC today consulted the Radio Regulatory Council regarding a draft “Ministerial Ordinance for Amendment of Part of the Radio Equipment Regulations, etc.” including the abovementioned draft Ministerial Ordinance for which public solicitation was conducted and received a report from the Council stating that the draft was appropriate.
3. Future plans
Based on the results of public solicitation and the report, MIC will promptly develop related regulations.
