March 15, 2024 Result of Public Solicitation for Organizations to Implement Digital Interference Countermeasure Project
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) publicly solicited opinions from Tuesday, January 9 through Thursday, February 8, 2024, for organizations to make environmental improvements and help support the smooth migration of conventional broadcasting to digital terrestrial broadcasting (under the Digital Interference Countermeasure Project) pertaining to the FY2024 budget.
Details of the proposal were evaluated by external experts, following which MIC selected the Radio Engineering & Electronics Association as the candidate organization to implement the project.
1. Outline of the project
This project aims to implement countermeasures to resolve or prevent radio interference with terrestrial digital television broadcasting through inquiries about reception problems and on-site inspections.
MIC is soliciting proposals from the public before the FY2024 budget bill passes the Diet so that the projects can get underway as soon as possible. Consequently, the funding source for the measures and content of the project may be subject to change, depending on the passage of the budget bill.
2. Candidate organization to implement the project
The public solicitation from Tuesday, January 9 through Thursday, February 8, 2024 elicited a single applicant. Details of the proposal were evaluated by external experts, based on which MIC selected the Radio Engineering & Electronics Association as the candidate organization to implement the project.
3. Future plans
MIC will accept a subsidy application from the selected candidate organization and decide on whether to grant a subsidy after screening the application.
