March 15, 2024 Announcement of the Evaluation Results of FY2023 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage for Mobile Phones and Nationwide BWA, along with Results of Solicitation for Opinions

 The Radio Regulatory Council (chaired by SASASE Iwao, Professor Emeritus of Keio University) publishes the “Evaluation Results of FY2023 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage for Mobile Phones and Nationwide BWA.”

1. Overview

 Based on the provisions of Article 26-3 of the Radio Act (No. 131 of 1950), the Radio Regulatory Council evaluates the degree of effective utilization of radio spectrum (hereinafter referred to as the “evaluation of effective utilization”) following receipt of a report from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) concerning the results of a survey on actual radio spectrum usage and reports the results to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications as well as publicizing them.
 MIC publicly solicited opinions from Wednesday, January 10 to Thursday, February 8, 2024 on the Evaluation Results of the Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage on Mobile Phones and Nationwide BWA (draft), 11 opinions were submitted.
 After discussions based on the submitted opinions, the Evaluation Results of the Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage on Mobile Phones and Nationwide BWA will be reported to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications and publicized today.
