March 21, 2024 Approval of Changes to Interconnection Agreements related to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (Revision of Access Charges, etc. for Fiscal Year 2024 based on the Long-run Incremental Cost Method) - Report from the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) today received a report from the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council (chaired by AIDA Hitoshi, Professor Emeritus of The University of Tokyo) regarding “Approval of Changes to Interconnection Agreements related to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (NTT West) (Revision of Access Charges for Fiscal Year 2024 based on the Long-run Incremental Cost Method)” (Inquiry No. 3178 dated February 6, 2024).
Based on this report, MIC will plan to promptly approve this case.
1. Summary of changes
Following the promulgation and partial enforcement of the Ministerial Ordinance Partially Amending Regulation on the Interconnection Charges Relating to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Ordinance No. 4 of 2024) on January 24, 2024, necessary changes will be made to the Interconnection Agreements of NTT East and NTT West to specify access charges, etc. for fiscal year 2024 calculated using the long-run incremental cost method.
2. Future plans
MIC will promptly give approval based on this report.
