March 28, 2024 Announcement of the Interim Report (Third Round) on FY2023 Test Purchases of Wireless Communications Devices

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) performs test purchases of wireless communications devices distributed on Internet shopping sites, etc., and checks whether the devices conform to the standards for “Radio Stations Operating with Extremely Low Power of Emission” (hereafter referred to as “Extremely Low Power Radio Equipment”) specified in Article 6, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act (Radio Regulatory Commission Rules, No. 14, 1950), and makes the results public.
MIC has compiled an interim report (third round) for FY2023 and decided to make it public.

1. Overview of test purchases of wireless communications devices

In recent years, many wireless communications devices that do not meet the Extremely Low Power Radio Equipment standards are being distributed on Internet shopping sites, etc., emitting radio waves and causing interference and other disturbances to other radio stations.
To prevent purchasers from purchasing and using the wireless communications devices mentioned above to interfere with other radio stations, MIC is implementing an initiative to purchase wireless communications devices distributed on Internet shopping sites, etc., to check whether they comply with the Extremely Low Power Radio Equipment standards, and to publicize the results of this check.
MIC has compiled the interim report (third round) on the results of the FY2023 test purchases of wireless communications devices and is now announcing the same.

2. Results of the interim report (third round) on FY2023 test purchases of wireless communications devices

As a result of the measurement of the purchased wireless communications devices, 41 models were found to emit radio waves that do not conform to the Extremely Low Power Radio Equipment standards, and the results have been posted on the Radio Use Website.
