May 7, 2024 The Signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation on ICT with the Republic of Paraguay

 On Friday, May 3, 2024 (Paraguay time), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on ICT with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and the National Telecommunications Commission of the Republic of Paraguay in Asunción, Paraguay.

1. The Background of the Memorandum of Cooperation on ICT

 To further expand cooperation between the two countries in the ICT field, MIC has been in discussions with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and the National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) of the Republic of Paraguay regarding the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on ICT.
 Thanks to these efforts, we have reached an agreement to promote cooperation in the ICT field, as outlined below. Taking advantage of Prime Minister Kishida's visit to Paraguay, a ceremony was held on May 3, 2024, to announce the signing of the MOC in the presence of Prime Minister Kishida and President Peña.

2. Details of the cooperation set forth in the MOC

 We will mutually exchange information concerning policies and good practices regarding the following items:

• Open, secure, and robust digital infrastructure
• Telecommunications/ICT applications encompassing agriculture, livestock farming and health care
• Digital inclusion and bridging the digital divide
• Cybersecurity
• Satellite communications
• Digital terrestrial broadcasting
• Smart city
