June 11, 2024 Results of the Solicitation for Opinions Regarding the Draft Directive to Partially Revise the Examination Standards Related to the Radio Act
- Revision of Examination Standards Related to the Introduction of a 9.7 GHz-band High-Performance Phased Array Weather Radar -

 To revise the examination standards related to the introduction of a 9.7 GHz-band high-performance phased array weather radar, the MIC has prepared a draft directive to partially revise the Examination Standards Related to the Radio Act (2001 MIC Directive No. 67) and solicited opinions from Thursday, April 11 to Wednesday May 15, 2024.
 As a result, one opinion was submitted.

Background

 Weather radars, which provide weather information, are crucial for ensuring the safety and security of people's lives. With the recent intensification of disasters, there is an increasing demand for the installation of more sophisticated weather radars.
 Under these circumstances, the MIC received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council regarding "technical requirements for 9.7 GHz-band high-performance phased array weather radars" on Thursday, January 18, 2024. The MIC prepared a draft directive to partially revise the Examination Standards Related to the Radio Act.
