June 17, 2024 Ideal State of Voice Access Charges after the migration to IP Networks

 Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has received a report on "Ideal State of Voice Access Charges after the migration to IP Networks" (Consultation No. 1237, dated October 2, 2023), from the Information and Communications Council, chaired by ENDO Nobuhiro, Executive Advisor of NEC Corporation.

1. Background

 In October 2023, the MIC consulted the Information and Communications Council regarding the " Ideal State of Voice Access Charges after the migration to IP Networks ." In response, investigations and deliberations were conducted at the Telecommunications Business Policy Committee under the Information and Communications Council and at the Interconnection Policy Subcommittee. This report was prepared considering the results of these investigations, deliberations, and the solicitation of opinions.

2. Future plans

 The MIC will implement the necessary measures based on this report.
