June 5, 2024 Draft Ministerial Ordinance Partially Amending the Ministerial Ordinance Regarding the Definitions of Specified Officers for Basic Broadcasting Services and Control Relationships, and Special Provisions on Freedom of Expression Standards (Results of Solicitation for Opinions and Report from the Radio Regulatory Council)
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions on a draft ministerial ordinance partially amending the Ministerial Ordinance Regarding the Definitions of Specified Officers for Basic Broadcasting Services and Control Relationships, and Special Provisions on Freedom of Expression Standards. This opinion solicitation was conducted from Wednesday, April 24 to Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The MIC has received six opinions.
The opinions submitted along with the MIC's position on them will be made available.
Based on the results of the opinion solicitation, the MIC consulted the Radio Regulatory Council, chaired by SASASE Iwao, Professor Emeritus of Keio University, regarding the appropriateness of the draft ministerial ordinance. Today, the MIC has received a report that it is appropriate.
Based on the results of the opinion solicitation, as well as this report, the MIC will promptly develop related regulations.
1. Overview
The MIC solicited opinions from Wednesday, April 24 to Tuesday, May 28, 2024, regarding the draft ministerial ordinance that partially amends the Ministerial Ordinance Regarding the Definitions of Specified Officers for Basic Broadcasting Services and Control Relationships, and Special Provisions on Freedom of Expression Standards.
2. Report from the Radio Regulatory Council
Based on the results of the opinion solicitation mentioned above, the MIC consulted the Radio Regulatory Council regarding the draft ministerial ordinance mentioned earlier. Today, the MIC has received a report confirming its appropriateness.
3. Future plans
Based on the results of the opinion solicitation and the report from the Radio Regulatory Council, the MIC will promptly develop related regulations.
