June 6, 2024 Partial Report from the Information and Communications Council on “Technical Requirements for Wireless Power Transmission Systems”
- Technical Requirements for Electric Field-Coupled Wireless Power Transmission Systems Using the 6.7 MHz Frequency Band -

 Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council, chaired by ENDO Nobuhiro, Special Advisor to NEC Corporation, regarding the "Technical Requirements for Electric Field-Coupled Wireless Power Transmission Systems Using the 6.7 MHz Frequency Band." This theme is included in the "Technical Requirements for Wireless Power Transmission Systems" found in Advisory Committee No. 3, "Various Standards of the International Special Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR)," dated September 26, 1988.

1. Background

 In recent years, robots have been actively introduced in factories and distribution centers. To supply power to these robots, the installation of wireless power transmission systems is also expected to progress.
 In preparation for putting wireless power transmission systems into practical use, the Radio Utilization Environment Committee, chaired by HIRATA Terumasa, Professor and Director of the Center of Biomedical Physics and Information Technology, Nagoya Institute of Technology, under the ICT Subcommittee of the Information and Communications Council, has been discussing the frequency sharing with other radio equipment and ensuring human safety, among other issues. The MIC has received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council on the "Technical Requirements for Electric Field-Coupled Wireless Power Transmission Systems Using the 6.7 MHz Frequency Band." This theme is included in the "Technical Requirements for Wireless Power Transmission Systems."

2. Future plans

 Based on this partial report, the MIC plans to revise the relevant regulations.
