July 2, 2024 Results of the Public Solicitation for Participation in the "Development and Demonstration Projects for Countermeasure Technologies against False or Misleading Information on the Internet"
Regarding the "Development and Demonstration Projects for Countermeasure Technologies against False or Misleading Information on the Internet," the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has decided to select six projects based on the evaluation of external experts.
1.Overview
To address the risk of distributing false or misleading information on the Internet, including that generated by generative AI (hereinafter simply referred to as "false or misleading information on the Internet"), the MIC is promoting the social implementation of countermeasure technologies through the "Development and Demonstration Projects for Countermeasure Technologies against False or Misleading Information on the Internet."
Targeting businesses and research institutions, the public solicitation for participation in the aforementioned Development and Demonstration Projects was conducted through Boston Consulting Group, a contractor. The public solicitation period was from Friday, April 26, 2024 to Monday, May 20, 2024.
2. Details of the decision
As a result of the public solicitation, we received a total of 21 proposals. These proposals were evaluated by the Evaluation Committee, which consists of outside experts. Based on the evaluation results, we have decided to adopt the following six projects:

3 | Originator Profile Collaborative Innovation Partnership | Countermeasures against false or misleading information on the Internet implemented in affected areas using originator profiles for sender identification technology |
4 | DataSign Inc. | Database that verifies the authenticity of content based on personal signatures |
5 | KTV Software Inc. | Demonstrating countermeasure technologies against false or misleading information during disasters using broadcast waves |
6 | Evixar Inc. | Developing a cloud system that incorporates measures against false and misleading information using acoustic watermarking and fingerprinting |
