July 31, 2024 Publication of the Results of the Solicitation for Opinions on the “Draft Mid-Term Priority Policy for ICT Cyber Security Measures” (hereinafter referred to as the “Draft Policy”) and the “Final Mid-Term Priority Policy for ICT Cyber Security Measures” (hereinafter referred to as the “Final Policy”)

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has been presiding over the "ICT Cyber Security Policy Subcommittee," led by GOTO Atsuhiro, President of the Institute of Information Security, since February 2024. We solicited opinions on the Draft Policy. Based on the opinions submitted, the Subcommittee has formulated the Final Policy. We will make the submitted opinions and the Subcommittee's position on them available.

1. Overview

 Since February 2024, we have presided over the "ICT Cyber Security Policy Subcommittee" under the Cyber Security Task Force. The Subcommittee considered the following trends to determine the direction of mid- to long-term cyber security measures that the MIC should adopt: the increasing sophistication and severity of cyberattacks, the increasingly severe security environment, the rapid spread of new technologies and services such as generative AI, and the growing diversification and complexity of the supply chain. Based on the results of the deliberations, the Subcommittee compiled the Draft Policy. We solicited opinions on the Draft Policy from Tuesday, July 2, 2024 to Friday, July 19, 2024. As a result, 17 opinions were submitted.
 Based on the opinions submitted, the Subcommittee examined the Draft Policy and formulated the Final Policy. We will make the submitted opinions and the Subcommittee’s position on them available.
 Based on the Final Policy, the MIC will actively promote measures to ensure cyber security.
