August 20, 2024 Results of the Solicitation for Opinions on Draft of 2024 Report of Study Group on Consumer Protection Rules and Publication of the Report

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions on the draft report compiled by the Study Group on Consumer Protection Rules (headed by Chief Investigator NIIMI Ikufumi, Professor Emeritus at Meiji University) from Saturday, June 29 through Monday, July 29, 2024. Based on the results of the solicitation for opinions, the report has now been compiled and published.

1. Overview

 The Study Group on Consumer Protection Rules (headed by Chief NIIMI Ikufumi, Professor Emeritus at Meiji University,) constantly reviews and verifies Consumer Protection Rules.
 The Study Group vigorously discussed the status of enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act as amended in 2022 and new issues for consideration, based on the items pointed out in the "2023 Report of Study Group on Consumer Protection Rules." As a result, specific directions were obtained, and a draft of the report was compiled.
 Solicitation for opinions on this proposal was conducted from Saturday, June 29 through Monday, July 29, 2024. As a result, 14 opinions were submitted. Based on these submissions, the report has been published.
