August 27, 2024 Results of the Solicitation for Opinions on the Draft Establishment Guidelines for Proliferating 5th Generation Mobile Communications Systems in the 4.9 GHz Band and the Report from the Radio Regulatory Council

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions on the "Draft Establishment Guidelines for Opening a Specified Base Station for Proliferating 5th Generation Mobile Communications Systems in the 4.9 GHz Band" (hereinafter referred to as the "Establishment Guidelines") from Wednesday, July 3, 2024 to Thursday August 1, 2024. We received 13 opinions.
 Based on the results of the opinion solicitation, the MIC consulted the Radio Regulatory Council, chaired by SASASE Iwao, Professor Emeritus of Keio University, regarding the appropriateness of the draft Opening Guidelines. Today, the MIC has received a report stating that it is appropriate.

1. Results of opinion solicitation

 The MIC solicited opinions on the draft Establishment Guidelines from Wednesday, July 3, 2024 to Thursday, August 1, 2024, and received 13 opinions.

2. Report from the Radio Regulatory Council

 The MIC consulted the Radio Regulatory Council regarding the enactment of the Establishment Guidelines and has received a report today stating that the draft is appropriate.

3. Future plans

 Based on the results of the opinion solicitation and the report from the Radio Regulatory Council, the MIC plans to proceed with the necessary procedures as soon as possible.
 The MIC will publish the "Manual for Applying for Approval of a Plan to Open a Specified Base Station for Proliferating 5th Generation Mobile Communications Systems in the 4.9 GHz Band" on the MIC’s Radio Use Website (https://www.tele.soumu.go.jp/j/adm/system/ml/mobile/5g/) as soon as it is ready. This manual will serve as a reference for applying for approval of an establishment plan.
