August 30, 2024 Results of Solicitation for Opinions on “Report of Radio Policy Roundtable For Expanding Digital Business (Draft)” and Publication of the Report

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions from July 3, 2024 (Wednesday) to August 1, 2024 (Thursday) on the “draft documents reported by Radio Policy Roundtable For Expanding Digital Business (Chaired by MORIKAWA Hiroyuki, Professor, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo), and 66 opinions were received.
 The results of the solicitation for opinions and the “Report of Radio Policy Roundtable For Expanding Digital Business” based on the results have been published, along with the “Action Plan for promoting Wireless Transformation (WX)” formulated by the MIC based on the Roundtable discussions.

○ Overview

 Radio wave usage is spreading and evolving in every space including land, sea, air, and space, and every socioeconomic activity, as technology advances and has become a source of innovation. Therefore, it is important to use radio waves as a foundation for growth in the digital society to expand business opportunities further.
 Under such circumstances, the “Radio Policy Roundtable For Expanding Digital Business” has been holding discussions since November 2023 on the future vision of radio wave use, setting new goals, measures for effective use of radio waves, to expand the digital business.
 The draft documents were reported by the roundtable. The MIC solicited opinions from July 3, 2024 (Wednesday) to August 1, 2024 (Thursday) concerning the draft documents, and 66 opinions were submitted.
 The results of the solicitation for opinions and the “Report of Radio Policy Roundtable For Expanding Digital Business” based on the results have been published.
 In addition, based on the discussions of the Roundtable, the MIC formulated and published the “Action Plan for promoting Wireless Transformation (WX)”, including the measures to be taken by MIC.
