August 9, 2024 Signing of Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Information and Telecommunications with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of the Republic of Costa Rica

 On Thursday August 8, 2024, Minister Matsumoto of Internal Affairs and Communications and Minister Bogantes of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of the Republic of Costa Rica signed an agreement to renew the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Information and Telecommunications between their ministries.

1. Background of the MoC in the field of information and communications technology

 In 2014, to further promote cooperation in the entire field of information and communications technology (hereinafter referred to as "ICT") and to facilitate the development of future projects, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of the Republic of Costa Rica signed a "Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting and ICT."
 This time, Minister Matsumoto met with Minister Bogantes of Science, Technology and Telecommunications and they agreed to continue promoting cooperation between the two countries in the field of ICT, and signed an agreement to renew the MoC.

2. Scope of cooperation set forth in the MoC

• AI (including cooperation in promoting governance, such as the Hiroshima AI Process, etc.)
• Open, secure and resilient digital infrastructure, including the diversification of 5G vendors
• Disaster prevention
• Other areas of mutual agreement between the two countries, etc.

3. Future policy

 The two countries will further promote cooperation in the field of ICT based on this MoC.
