September 10, 2024 Publication of the "Report from the Expert Group on How to Ensure Healthy Information Distribution in the Digital Space" (hereinafter referred to as the "Expert Group") and the Results of the Opinion Solicitation

 The Expert Group, chaired by SHISHIDO George, Professor, Graduate School of Law and Politics, the University of Tokyo, compiled the "Draft Report on How to Ensure Healthy Information Distribution in the Digital Space" (hereinafter referred to as the "Draft Report"). The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions on the Draft Report from Saturday, July 20, 2024, to Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
 Based on the results of the opinion solicitation, the Expert Group summarized its Final Report on How to Ensure Healthy Information Distribution in the Digital Space (hereinafter referred to as the "Final Report"). The MIC will publish this along with the results of the opinion solicitation.

1. Background

 The Expert Group discussed future policies and concrete measures to ensure healthy information distribution in the digital space. At its 25th meeting, held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the Expert Group compiled the Draft Report. It solicited opinions on the Draft Report from Saturday, July 20, 2024, to Tuesday, August 20, 2024, and received 1,706 opinions.
 The 26th meeting of the Expert Group was held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, during which the Final Report was compiled based on the solicited opinions and the results of the discussions at the meeting. We will now make these available.

2. How to obtain materials

 The relevant materials will be made available for inspection and distribution at the Office for Proper Internet Use Promotion, Digital Inclusion and Accessibility Division, Information and Communications Bureau, MIC (11F, Chuo Godo Chosha Building No. 2). They will also be posted in the "Public opinions" section on the e-Government General Contact Point [e-Gov] website (https://www.e-gov.go.jp).
