January 10, 2025 Launching a Special Website to Review Mobile Phone Rate Plans

　The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has launched a special website to help users select a rate plan that meets their needs. On the website, Gegege no Kitaro clearly introduces key points for reviewing mobile phone rate plans and a one-step procedure for switching mobile phone companies.

　The MIC has been working to promote competition in the mobile market in order to vary rate plans, aiming to allow mobile phone users to choose the one that best suits their needs. Additionally, the MIC has strived to streamline the process for switching mobile phone companies by adopting a one-stop procedure for MNP (mobile number portability).

　Unfortunately, about half of the users are still reluctant to review their rate plans due to the troublesome procedure.*

　To address the situation, the MIC has decided to launch a public relations campaign as part of the "Mobile Market Competition Promotion Plan for Enriching Daily Lives," released on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. The purpose of the campaign is to clearly introduce key points for reviewing mobile phone rate plans and the one-stop procedure for switching mobile phone companies.

　We decided to use Gegege no Kitaro, a manga character popular among people of a broad range of ages and launched a special website named "Gegege’s Mobile Phone Rates," designed to help users choose a the right rate plan. This website will be available until Monday, March 31, 2025.

　The special website clearly introduces the key points for reviewing mobile phone rate plans and the one-stop procedure for switching mobile phone companies.
　In the near future, we will release an animated video featuring Kitaro and his friends taking on the challenge of reviewing rate plans, along with enjoyable content to help you gain the knowledge necessary to review your rate plan. Please take a look.
