January 29, 2025 Report from the Information and Communications Administration and Postal System Administration Council on Approval to Changes in Support Operations Rules of the Universal Telecommunications Service Support Institutions

 Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) consulted the Information and Communications Administration and Postal System Administration Council (chaired by AIDA Hitoshi, professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo) regarding the approval to changes in the support Operations rules of the Universal Telecommunications Service Support Institution, and received a report from the Council stating that it is appropriate to approve the changes as consulted.
 MIC will promptly grant approval based on this report.

1. Background

 On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, MIC received a request from the Telecommunications Carriers Association, a Universal Telecommunications Service Support Institution, for approval of changes to the Support Operations Rules of Universal Telecommunications Service Support Institutions, and today, they consulted the Information and Communications Administration and Postal System Administration Council about this approval, and received a report from the Council that it is appropriate to grant the approval as requested.

 MIC will promptly grant approval based on this report.

3. Future plans

 Based on the results of the solicitation of opinions and this report, MIC plans to promptly prepare the necessary ordinances.
