October 20, 2025 "Technical Requirements for the Outdoor Use of 920 MHz Band Beam Wireless Power Transmission Systems" as Part of "Technical Requirements for Beam Wireless Power Transmission Systems"

　Beam wireless power transmission (WPT) systems transmit power wirelessly over distances of 5 to 10 meters using radio waves, and are expected to be used to supply power to sensors and other equipment in factories and warehouses. The 920 MHz band beam WPT systems are used to supply low power of several tens of milliwatts. However, as their use becomes more widespread, demand is increasing for greater flexibility in installation locations and a wider range of applications.
　In light of this situation, the Information and Communications Council has been studying technical requirements necessary for using 920 MHz band beam WPT systems outdoors on premises or as specified low-power stations with limited power output. Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications received a partial report on the technical requirements for the outdoor use of 920 MHz band WPT systems.

1. Background

　Beam wireless power transmission (WPT) systems transmit power wirelessly over distances of 5 to 10 meters using radio waves, and are expected to be used to supply power to sensors and other equipment in factories and warehouses.

　The 920 MHz band beam WPT systems are used to supply low power of several tens of milliwatts. However, as their use becomes more widespread, demand is increasing for greater flexibility in installation locations and a wider range of applications.

Today, the MIC received a partial report on the technical requirements for the outdoor use of 920 MHz band WPT systems.

2. Future plans

　Based on this partial report, the MIC plans to develop the relevant regulations.
