February 12, 2025 Launch of the comprehensive website for the “DIGITAL POSITIVE ACTION” Project - Introduction of Public and Private Sector Initiatives to Improve ICT Literacy -
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is promoting the awareness-raising project "DIGITAL POSITIVE ACTION" in cooperation with various stakeholders in the public and private sectors, aiming to improve ICT literacy of users on the Internet and social media.
To this end, we launched the comprehensive website today as part of these activities. We timed the launch to coincide with Safer Internet Day, usually held in February, which is a global awareness campaign to achieve a safe Internet usage environment.
1. Overview
The spread of the Internet and social media has increased the convenience of social life. However, it has also accelerated the spread of disinformation and misinformation, fraudulent advertisements, and slanderous posts. In particular, during disasters or pandemics, disinformation and misinformation may have a serious impact. Digital technology is deeply integrated into people's daily lives. To ensure that each citizen uses these technologies with confidence as a member of the digital society, it is increasingly important to use these technologies actively while being mindful of their impact on others and acting responsibly.
On Wednesday, January 22 of this year, the MIC and 19 companies and organizations collaborated to launch the "DIGITAL POSITIVE ACTION" project, aiming to improve ICT literacy.
As part of this project, we launched the comprehensive website today where educational materials, scheduled seminars, and other public and private sector initiatives are introduced. We timed the launch to coincide with Safer Internet Day, held every February, which is a global awareness-raising event to achieve a safe Internet usage environment. Through this project, we will continue to promote efforts to improve ICT literacy, including enhancing the content of the comprehensive website, developing educational materials, and holding seminars.
2. The comprehensive website aggregates the efforts in the public and private sectors
This website introduces seminars, symposiums, and other initiatives by companies and organizations collaborating in the "DIGITAL POSITIVE ACTION" project.
We plan to continuously enhance the content of this website, including educational materials for public awareness. For the foreseeable future, as part of efforts based on the "Roadmap for Improving ICT Literacy," we plan to release educational materials and other materials aimed at improving ICT literacy. These materials cover the five areas of abilities that should be acquired by each generation, according to the characteristics and issues of youth, parents, and elderly people. Please take a look.
