February 14, 2025 Approval for JICT's Decision on the Target Project Support（Support for the project to develop data centers in the U.S.）

　The Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications approved, on September 5, 2024, an application from the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan's ICT and Postal Services Inc. (headed by OSHIMA Amane, President and CEO) to decide support for the project to develop data centers in the United States. This has now been announced as the relevant parties have reached an agreement.

1. Background

　Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “JICT”) submitted an application to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications based on the provisions of Article 25, Paragraph 2 of the Act on the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (Act No. 35 of 2015) to authorize a decision on support for the project to develop data centers in the United States.
　In response to the application, the Minister examined the content of the support and the target project following the JICT Support Standards (MIC Notice No. 412 of 2015), and has confirmed that the project meets the support standards. Accordingly, on September 5, 2024, the Minister approved the support decision for the target project as requested.

2. Target project

　JICT, together with Mitsubishi Corporation and Digital Realty Trust Inc., will participate in the project to build and operate two data centers in the United States, and invest up to US$192 million.
　This is Mitsubishi Corporation's first overseas data center project, and requires　substantial capital investment and a long payback period. The amount provided by JICT will support the business expansion of Japanese business operators having know-how in digital infrastructure in the United States, leading to further global rollout in the future, thereby contributing to strengthening the international competitiveness of Japanese business operators and related businesses.
