February 14, 2025 Symposium on Considering the Promotion of Safe and Secure Metaverse Utilization

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold a "Symposium on Considering the Promotion of Safe and Secure Metaverse Utilization" on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

1. Overview

The metaverse, which can be accessed via the Internet and other networks and allows users to enjoy immersive experiences, is not only used as a place for communication and creative activities, but is also being used as a platform for digital transformation (DX) in corporate activities and the creation of new services, and its market is expected to expand in the future.
On the other hand, in order to further promote the use of the metaverse, it is important to share use cases that contribute to solving various social issues, as well as to create an environment that can be used safely and securely, in order to resolve questions and concerns among users.
Therefore, MIC, with the aim of developing a safe and secure environment as a prerequisite for promoting the use of the metaverse, has recently compiled the “Principles of the Metaverse (Version 1.0)” in October 2024 at the “Study Group on Realizing Safe and Secure Metaverse." Going forward, MIC will continue to work towards international cooperation based on these principles, and promote their use in collaboration with various stakeholders.
Against this background, this symposium will be held with the aim of bringing together companies, organizations, researchers, etc. involved in the metaverse to discuss efforts to ensure the safety and security of users, the key points for the successful introduction of the metaverse, the benefits of its introduction, etc.
