February 4, 2025 Approval of JICT’s Decision on Support Business (Support for the Overseas Development of DX Projects and Similar Initiatives in the U.S. and Other Countries through LP Investments)

 Today, The Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications has approved an application from JICT (Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services Inc., headed by OSHIMA Amane, President and CEO) to support the Overseas Development of DX projects and similar initiatives in the U.S. through LP investments, as applied.

1. Background

 JICT applied to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications to approve its decision to support the Overseas Development of DX projects and similar initiatives (hereinafter referred to as the "Support Business") through LP* investments, pursuant to Article 25, Paragraph 2 of the Act on the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (Act No. 35 of 2015).
 In response to the application, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) examined the support content and Support Business based on the the JICT Support Standards by JICT (MIC Notice No. 412 of 2015) and JICT’s Fund Investment Concept (Notice dated March 31, 2022). As a result, the MIC concluded that the application met the relevant requirements. Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications approved JICT’s decision on the Support Business, as applied.

2. Support Business

 JICT, in collaboration with TOPPAN Holdings Inc., will take part in the Support Business to facilitate the Overseas Development of DX businesses and similar initiatives in the United States and other countries. They will invest up to US$5.99 million in the TGVP Fund I, LP, managed by Toppan Global Venture Partners.
 The Support Business will make LP investments in the aforementioned fund which invests in U.S. startups with advanced DX technologies. It will contribute to the creation of new DX businesses through collaborations between Japanese businesses and fund investees, the Overseas Development of Japanese businesses through the Support Business, and regional revitalization through domestic business deployment.
