March 31, 2025 Designation of Category II Designated Telecommunications Carriers and Coverage Support Districts

　Today, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications has designated Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (headed by President SHIBUTANI Naoki), Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (headed by President KITAMURA Ryota), and ZTV Co., Ltd. (headed by President TAMURA Kinya) as Category II designated telecommunications carriers, and has also designated the coverage support districts for each of them, based on Article 110-3, Paragraph 1 of the Telecommunications Business Act (Act No. 86 of 1984).

　Based on the report on the designation of the Category II designated telecommunications carriers that was received at the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council (chaired by AIDA Hitoshi, Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo) held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications today designated Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation, and ZTV Co., Ltd. as Category II designated telecommunications carriers pursuant to the provisions of Article 110-3, Paragraph 1 of the Telecommunications Business Act. In addition, in accordance with the provisions of Paragraph 2 of the same Article, the coverage support districts of each of these Category II designated telecommunications carriers have been designated as shown in the attached table. These will be announced in accordance with the provisions of Paragraph 4 of the same Article.
