Technical Requirements for the Upgrading of Fixed Communication Systems in the 6, 6.5, and 7.5 GHz Bands (hereinafter referred to as the "Fixed Communication Systems Technical Requirements")
- Partial Report from the Information and Communications Council -
Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council, chaired by ENDO Nobuhiro, special advisor to NEC Corporation, on the Fixed Communication Systems Technical Requirements, which form part of the "Technical Requirements for the Upgrading of Commercial Land Radiocommunications Systems" (Information and Communications Council Consultation No. 2033, dated May 17, 2013)
1. Overview
With the recent increase in communication demand, the need for long-distance relay lines has grown, necessitating more advanced fixed communication systems operating in the 6, 6.5, and 7.5 GHz bands. Such advanced systems will enhance the speed and capacity of wireless communications and improve frequency utilization efficiency, enabling long-distance communications in island regions and high-precision image transmission during disasters. Additionally, they will help reduce the installation costs of communications equipment, thereby addressing societal needs.
Against this background, the ICT Subcommittee under the Information and Communications Council deliberated on the Fixed Communication Systems Technical Requirements, and the Council subsequently issued a partial report.
2. Future plans
Based on the partial report, the MIC plans to develop the regulations related to the Radio Act.
