August 22, 2025 Holding of a Study Group Meeting on Calculation Standards for Postage Rates and Related Matters (hereinafter referred to as the "Study Group Meeting")

　The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold the Study Group Meeting to discuss calculation standards and other matters related to postage rates.

1. Purpose

　Regarding the calculation standards for the maximum postage rates for standard size postal items weighing 25 grams or less, the "Report on the Postage System in Light of Changes in the Business Environment Surrounding the Postal Business," dated July 31, 2025, from the Information and Communications Council states that "it would be preferable for the MIC to establish a forum to consider specific calculation standards and relevant matters with the participation of experts for discussions in the future."
　In response to this report, the Study Group Meeting will be held to consider calculation standards and other matters related to postage rates.

(1) Calculation standards and other matters related to postage rates
(2) Other matters deemed necessary

3. Schedule

　The Study Group Meeting is scheduled to be held from September 2025.

4. Points to be noted

　The Study Group Meeting will be closed to the public since it will handle non-public information of the postal business.
