August 25, 2025 Approval of JICT’s Decision on Project Support (Support for Expansion of CO2 Emissions Management and Decarbonization Cloud Services in the U.S.)
On August 22, 2025, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) approved JICT’s (President and CEO: OSHIMA Amane) application to expand support for the Target Project, as applied.
1. Background
JICT submitted an application to the MIC for approval of its decision to support for the Target Project, pursuant to Article 25, Paragraph 2 of the Act on the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (Act No. 35 of 2015).
In response to the application, the MIC examined the details of the support and the Target Project based on the JICT Support Standards (MIC Notice No. 412 of 2015). As a result, the MIC concluded that the application met the requirements of the JICT Support Standards. On August 22, 2025, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications approved JICT’s decision on the Target Project, as applied.
2. Target Project
JICT plans to provide investment-based support, in collaboration with ASUENE Inc., a Japanese startup specializing in climate change-related technologies, to expand its cloud-based CO₂ emissions management and decarbonization support services in the United States.
The Target Project involves an investment in NZero, Inc., a U.S.-based climate change technology company, to strengthen ASUENE Inc.’s energy management technology and accelerate its business expansion in the U.S. by leveraging NZero, Inc.’s customer base.
This project is expected to enhance the international competitiveness of Japanese start-ups and pave the way for their further global expansion.
