August 7, 2025 Results of the Public Solicitation for Post Office Utilization Project to Ensure the Sustainability of Local Communities (hereinafter referred to as the "Post Office Utilization Project")

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) decided to select eight projects for the Post Office Utilization Project based on an evaluation conducted by external experts.

1. Overview

As population decline reduces both the number and scale of facilities providing various services, it is necessary to take measures to ensure the sustainability of local communities. One such measure involves collaboration between post offices and entities providing services essential to communities—such as local governments and basic services providers-—to transform post offices into hubs for delivering new administrative and life support services to residents, while making effective use of the post office network. The Post Office Utilization Project mentioned above aims to demonstrate this initiative.
The MIC has received applications from prospective implementing entities that were publicly solicited for the Post Office Utilization Project, through its contractor, NTT DATA Institute of Management Consulting, Inc. The application period ran from Monday, May 26, 2025, to Thursday, June 26, 2025.
