September 11, 2025 Revenues and Expenditures of Private Broadcasters for FY2024
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has summarized the revenues and expenditures of private broadcasters for FY2024 and now make them publicly available.

1. Overview
A summary of the revenues and expenditures for FY2024 is shown below:
○ Terrestrial core broadcasters
Terrestrial core broadcasters, excluding community broadcasters, recorded increases in both sales (+1.9%) and operating results (+14.5%), compared to the previous fiscal year.
Community broadcasters*  recorded declines in both sales (-1.9%) and operating results, compared to the previous fiscal year.
* For broadcasters that have not yet reached the end of the accounting period, the most recent business revenues and expenditures are used to compile the data.
○ Satellite broadcasters
Satellite broadcasters (both core and general) recorded a decline in sales (-3.5%) but an increase in operating results (+11.8%) in their satellite broadcasting business, compared to the previous fiscal year.
○ Cable television broadcasters
Cable television broadcasters* recorded a decline in sales (-1.2%) but an increase in operating results (+2.6%) in their cable television business, compared to the previous fiscal year.
* Registered general broadcasters (limited to commercial corporations) that use wired telecommunications facilities to conduct independent broadcasts, excluding those that use IP multicast systems.
