September 17, 2025 Publication of the "Interim Report from the Study Group on Addressing Issues Related to Information Distribution in the Digital Space" and the Results of the Public Comment

 The "Study Group on Addressing Issues Related to Information Distribution in the Digital Space" (chaired by SHISHIDO George, Professor, Graduate Schools for Law and Politics, the University of Tokyo) compiled the "Draft Interim Report from the Study Group on Addressing Issues Related to Information Distribution in the Digital Space." The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) collected public comments on this draft from Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

 Based on the results of the public comment, the "Interim Report from the Study Group on Addressing Issues Related to Information Distribution in the Digital Space" has been published.

1. Background

 The Study Group on Addressing Issues Related to Information Distribution in the Digital Space (hereinafter referred to as the "Study Group") has held discussions on how to deal with the various issues associated with the distribution of information in the digital space, including the development of institutions. At its seventh meeting (held on Thursday, June 26, 2025), the "Draft Interim Report from the Study Group on Addressing Issues Related to Information Distribution in the Digital Space" was compiled. The MIC collected public comments on this draft from Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to Tuesday, July 22, 2025, and 192 opinions were submitted.

 Based on these opinions and the result of the discussions at the eighth meeting of the Study Group (held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025), the "Interim Report from the Study Group on Addressing Issues Related to Information Distribution in the Digital Space" has been published.

2. How to obtain materials

 The relevant materials will be made available for inspection and distribution at the Office for Proper Internet Use Promotion, Digital Inclusion and Accessibility Division, Information and Communications Bureau, MIC (11F, Chuo Godo Chosha Building No. 2). They will also be posted in the "Public Comment" section on the e-Gov website (https://www.e-gov.go.jp/Open a new window).
