January 23, 2026 Convening of Public-Private Conference on Information and Telecommunications Growth Strategies (hereinafter the "Public-Private Conference")
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold the Public-Private Conference to promote discussion of the information and telecommunications sector within the Council for Japan’s Growth Strategy.
1. Background and objectives
In the Council for Japan’s Growth Strategy, the information and telecommunications sector was designated as one of the strategic sectors to be supported comprehensively. The MIC will examine strategic investments through public-private partnerships in the sector.
2. Proposed items for immediate consideration
- - Basic principles and achievement goals for the growth strategy in the information and telecommunications sector
- - Strategically important technologies in the information and telecommunications sector
- - Strategic investment scale, investment schemes, and investment promotion measures in the information and telecommunications sector (public-private investment roadmap)
- - Comprehensive support measures, such as industry-academia collaboration, international standardization, human resource development, etc.
3. Schedule
The first meeting will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, and subsequent meetings will be held sequentially thereafter.
