May 29, 2026 Implementation of a "Campaign Period to Disseminate and Strengthen Awareness of Protecting Radio Wave Usage Environments" in FY 2026

- ”That Wireless Device Might Be Causing Radio Wave Interference!?” -

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will designate the period from Monday, June 1 to Wednesday, June 10, 2026, as a "Campaign Period to Disseminate and Strengthen Awareness of Protecting Radio Wave Usage Environments" under the catchphrase "That Wireless Device Might be Causing Radio Wave Interference!?"
The MIC will also designate the month of June as a "Campaign Period to Strengthen Measures against Illegal and Infringing Radio Stations" to promote proper radio wave usage environments.

Note: The published materials are in Japanese only.

As the use of radio waves continues to expand, there have been cases where illegal radio stations are opened and operated without a radio station license, causing interference/jamming to other radio stations. There have also been cases where individuals purchase and use radio equipment that does not conform to the technical standards stipulated in the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950) via online stores etc., having resulted in interference to other radio communications, including critical ones.

To protect radio wave users who are operating radio wave stations properly from, for example, interference by illegal radio stations and to promote proper radio wave usage environments, the MIC will designate the period from Monday, June 1 to Wednesday, June 10, 2026 as a "Campaign Period to Disseminate and Strengthen Awareness of Protecting Radio Wave Usage Environments" to conduct activities to disseminate and strengthen awareness of protecting radio wave usage environments intensively and in a focused manner. Furthermore, the MIC will also designate the month of June as a "Campaign Period to Strengthen Measures against Illegal and Infringing Radio Stations" to promote proper radio wave usage environments.
