May 8, 2026 Holding of the "Study Group on Measures Against Sophisticated and Complex Cyberattacks"

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will hold the "Study Group on Measures Against Sophisticated and Complex Cyberattacks" to examine the appropriate measures that relevant entities, including telecommunications carriers, should take to ensure cyber security.

1 Purpose

Information and communications networks are critical infrastructure essential to the lives of citizens and the economy, and at the same time, they constitute the very infrastructure of cyberspaces, where cyberattacks are rampant. Telecommunications carriers, as the entities responsible for this infrastructure, play a significant role in ensuring cyber security.

Particularly in recent years, cyberattacks such as ransomware have become increasingly sophisticated, and the infrastructure used to launch these attacks has grown more complex. Implementing more effective measures against these threats has become critical challenges in realizing safe and secure cyberspaces.

Therefore, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will hold the “Study Group on Measures Against Sophisticated and Complex Cyberattacks” with the aim of examining the appropriate measures that relevant entities, including telecommunications carriers, should take to ensure cyber security.

2 Main Examined Matters

  • (1) Effective measures against increasingly sophisticated and complex cyberattacks
  • (2) Cooperation among relevant entities in cyberattack measures
  • (3) Other matters

3 Schedule

The first meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 29, 2026. Subsequent meetings will be held as needed, with the aim of finalizing the report by the end of 2026.

4 Note

As this study group may handle information related to specific cyber security measures, which could potentially harm the interests of the parties involved or third parties, meetings will generally be closed to the public.
