The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications today received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council (chaired by ENDO Nobuhiro, special advisor to NEC Corporation) on “How to Promote Effective Use of Radio Waves to Adapt to Changes in the Social Environment” (Consultation No. 30 dated February 3, 2025), specifically on "Approach to Frequency Allocation" (New Wireless Usage on 900-MHz Band) and “Approach to Licensing Systems, etc.” (Approach to Certification of Radio Equipment).

1 Background
On Monday, February 3, 2025, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications consulted to the Information and Communications Council on “How to Promote Effective Use of Radio Waves to Adapt to Changes in the Social Environment.”
This theme was studied and examined by the Effective Use of Radio Waves Committee (chaired by FUJII Takeo, professor of the Advanced Wireless and Communication Research Center at the University of Electro-Communications) under the ICT Subcommittee of the Information and Communications Council. The partial report on "Approach to Frequency Allocation" (New Wireless Usage on 900-MHz Band) and “Approach to Licensing Systems, etc.” (Approach to Certification of Radio Equipment) was made at the Information and Communications Council's general meeting held today.
2 Future Plans
Based on this partial report, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications plans to advance future information and telecommunications administration.
