1 Overview

To improve operational efficiency and reduce costs, the Japan Coast Guard reviewed its coastal stations operating in the medium high frequency band with a view to rationalization and decided to discontinue certain stations whose closure would have minimal impact. As a result of the closure of these coastal stations, the communication zones (sea area A2) of coastal stations operating in the medium high frequency band will be reduced. Accordingly, it became necessary to amend the relevant public notice, and MIC solicited opinions from Tuesday, March 31, 2026, to Thursday, May 7, 2026, on a draft public notice partially amending MIC Public Notice No. 213 of 2003.
