June 15, 2026 Authorization of Contribution by Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) to the NHK Foundation

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) submitted an inquiry today to the Radio Regulatory Council (chaired by SASASE Iwao, Professor Emeritus at Keio University) concerning the authorization of contribution to the NHK Foundation applied by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (also known as NHK, headed by President INOUE Tatsuhiko) based on the provisions of the Broadcasting Act (Act No. 132 of 1950). A report was received from the Council stating its approval as inquired.
 In response to this report, the MIC will promptly approve the application.

1  Overview

 On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, there were applications from NHK for the authorization of contribution to the NHK Foundation based on the provisions of Article 20, Paragraph 12 of the Broadcasting Act.

2 Report from the Radio Regulatory Council

 MIC submitted an inquiry today to the Radio Regulatory Council concerning the authorization of contribution to the NHK Foundation, and received a report from the Council stating its approval as inquired.

3 Upcoming schedule

 MIC will promptly authorize the contribution to the NHK Foundation, based on the report from the Radio Regulatory Council.
