July 10, 2026 Publication of Report and Results of Solicitation for Opinions on Draft Report of Study Group Meeting on the Protection of International Submarine Cables

 The Study Group Meeting on the Protection of International Submarine Cables, chaired by OHASHI Hiroshi, Professor at the Graduate School of Economics and Vice President of the University of Tokyo, formulated a draft report of the Study Group Meeting on the Protection of International Submarine Cables. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions on the draft report from Saturday, June 13, 2026, to Tuesday, June 30, 2026, and received 15 opinions.
 Based on the results of the solicitation for opinions, the report of the Study Group Meeting on the Protection of International Submarine Cables was finalized. MIC announces the report together with the result of the relevant solicitation for opinions.

1  Overview

 Since Tuesday, November 11, 2025, MIC has convened the Study Group Meeting on the Protection of International Submarine Cables, and has been conducting in-depth discussions on the appropriate measures for protecting such cables.

 The Study Group Meeting formulated the draft report of the Study Group Meeting on the Protection of International Submarine Cables. MIC solicited opinions on the draft report from Saturday, June 13, 2026, to Tuesday, June 30, 2026, and received 15 opinions.

 Based on the results of the solicitation for opinions, the report of the Study Group Meeting on the Protection of International Submarine Cables was finalized. MIC announces the report together with the result of the relevant solicitation for opinions.
