July 8, 2026 Results of Public Solicitation of Proposals for Research on Bio-Electromagnetic Environment and Evaluation Technologies Related to Radio Wave Safety to Be Conducted from FY2026 (hereinafter referred to as the "FY2026 Research Proposals")
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) publicly solicited FY2026 Research Proposals. Based on the results of the external evaluation of the proposals, we have now selected one.
To eliminate public concerns about radio waves and build a society where radio waves can be used with peace of mind, the MIC intends to obtain knowledge on the biological effects of radio waves. To this end, the MIC has conducted research on the bio-electromagnetic environment and evaluation technologies related to radio wave safety.
The MIC publicly solicited proposals for research themes on bio-electromagnetic environment and evaluation technologies related to radio wave safety to be conducted in FY2026. The solicitation period ran from Thursday, March 19, 2026, to Friday, April 17, 2026. We received one application for a single theme. Following an external evaluation of the proposal, we are pleased to announce that it has been selected for adoption. For details, please refer to the table below.
After confirming that the proposal is viable without any major obstacles, the MIC will enter into a consignment contract.
