January 11, 2022 Holding GPAI Symposium

International frontiers in bridging AI principles and practices

In June 2020, the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI), an international initiative to address the responsible development and use of AI-based on human-centered thinking, was established. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) participated in this partnership with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
The GPAI has five working groups, i.e., Responsible AI, Data Governance, Future of Work, Innovation and Commercialization, and AI and Pandemic Response. Its projects are underway by GPAI experts to contribute to bridging AI principles and practices.
The GPAI Symposium will be held under the joint sponsorship of MIC and METI to publicize the activities of the GPAI and deepen the understanding of international discussions on AI principles and other practices. Experts from Japan and abroad who participate in the GPAI will attend the symposium as speakers and panelists to discuss the activities and significance of the GPAI.
