April 26, 2024 Publication of the “Guidebook for Countermeasures against Misconfiguration of Cloud Computing”

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications now provides the "Guidebook for Countermeasures against Misconfiguration of Cloud Computing" to facilitate the understanding of the "Guidelines for Appropriate Settings for Using and Providing Cloud Services," published in October 2022.

1. Background and purpose

 To promote appropriate settings for using and providing cloud services and the safe and secure use of cloud services, MIC formulated and published the "Guidelines for Appropriate Settings for Using and Providing Cloud Services" in October 2022. It outlines measures that should be taken by both cloud service providers and users to prevent misconfigurations as well as best practices for implementing such measures.
 Recently, there have been successive incidents that could have led to information leakage among business operators using cloud services. In light of this situation, we have formulated the "Guidebook for Countermeasures against Misconfiguration of Cloud Computing.'' It explains the content of the "Guidelines for Appropriate Settings for Using and Providing Cloud Services" in an easy-to-understand manner with the aim of promoting its utilization.
