July 19, 2024 Results of the Solicitation for Opinions on the “Draft Report from the Working Group on Promoting Infrastructure Improvements for 5G Proliferation” (hereinafter referred to as the “Draft Report”) and Publication of the Final Report

 The "Working Group on Promoting Infrastructure Improvements for 5G Proliferation," led by Professor MORIKAWA Hiroyuki of the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, compiled the Draft Report. In response, the MIC solicited opinions on it from Saturday, May 25, 2024 to Monday, June 24, 2024, and received 75 opinions.  Based on the results of the opinion solicitation, the Working Group compiled the "Final Report from the Working Group on Promoting Infrastructure Improvements for 5G Proliferation." We will be publishing it.

1. Overview

 With the expected proliferation of 5G in the future, we need to further enhance the 5G infrastructure to provide mobile phone users with 5G-specific services. Against this background, the MIC needs to consider new improvement targets or policies for high-frequency bands, such as Sub-6 and extremely high frecency, as well as new technologies like SA (Stand Alone). To this end, the MIC has been running the "Working Group on Promoting Infrastructure Improvements for 5G Proliferation" since March 2024.
 The Working Group compiled the Draft Report. We solicited opinions on this draft report from Saturday, May 25, 2024 to Monday, June 24, 2024, and received 75 opinions.
 Based on the discussions at the Working Group and the results of the opinion solicitation, the Working Group compiled the Final Report. We will make it available along with the results of the opinion solicitation.
